How this tool changes learning in a way that isn't possible without technology
Throughout this unit of study, students will work in groups on various projects. During the lesson on inventors, student groups will be assigned an inventor of the industrial revolution. Research on the individual and invention will be used to create a comic strip using Stripgenerator. All group comic strips will be printed and distributed as a comic book for parent's night.
Stripgenerator

Creating a comic strip takes a not so exciting subject such has history and gives it a modern twist. Hopefully both students and parents will enjoy/appreciate a modern take on history.
In this lesson, students groups will create a poster using Glogster illustrating how their invention from the previous lesson has evolved over time. If the invention has become obsolete, students will identify the successor.
Glogster

A Glogster poster is more interactive than a traditional poster board in that pictures, videos, etc. can be incorporated.
Student groups will be required to create a minimum of 4 Quizlet flashcards for each lesson (inventors/inventions, urbanization, labor issues, immigration, regulation, etc.) during the Industrial Revolution unit of study. Some of these questions may be used as exam questions.
Quizlet

Expands student's ability to collaborate and enhances learning by reversing the student/teacher role in allowing student's to write potential exam questions.
In order to visualize the progression of time through the years of the Industrial Revolution, the class will create a timeline using Timetoast. Any information regarding this time period (date, event, etc.) may be entered.
Timetoast

The timeline will allow students to visualize how rapidly our society evolved during this time frame and collaboration is incredibly simple.
